Do You Need a Toner #skincare

So today we're going to be talking about Obagi Nu-Derm toner. Now I did a video maybe a year or so ago where a certain YouTuber was telling people they didn't necessarily need a toner. And to me, I was flabbergasted. I was like, how, how can you say you don't need a toner? Because I felt like nine out of 10 people needed a toner, especially when you're using the Obagi Nu-Derm system.

Now, does everyone need a toner? No, because some people, it can be stripping. Some people, it doesn't work for their skin type, but I'm going to explain why most people and if you're using the Obagi Nu-Derm system, I would say almost everyone needs an Obagi Nu-Derm toner to go with the system. The main reason to use a toner with the Obagi Nu-Derm system is because this is suitable for all skin types. So you don't have to worry about it really stripping your skin or anything like that. All of them are different. So every toner, some of them have salicylic acid, they have different ingredients. Those, yes, those toners sometimes can be stripping. Maybe they're used more for acne.

This toner, the basis of it is witch hazel. What witch hazel does is it helps with anti-inflammatory properties. That's what it has. So when you're using the Obagi Nu-Derm system, it's a six step system. And then sometimes it turns into seven and eight steps because you're adding a retinol, you're adding the vitamin C mask. You're adding vitamin C serums on and on. 

So when you're doing all of those things, you're also using the Exfoderm, which has salicylic acid or lactic acid. So when you're using those products, sometimes you're going to get a little bit of inflammation, especially at first. So when you're using your toner, that goes with the Obagi Nu-Derm system, what that does is that helps with the inflammation. So I think it's something that definitely, yes, unless you're allergic to witch hazel or something, which I've never heard of, that would be one of the only reasons you don't want to do it.

And there's a combination of sage mixed in with it, which is also calming. So that's why it's really important. It also puts your skin back to its pH level and it helps get rid of all the dirt and extra impurities that are left on your face. So there's my answer. And there's my reasoning as to why you need a toner. On my last video, when I was saying yes, you do need a toner. I had some girls that were messaging me saying, I didn't know what I was talking about. And then I asked them, could you please tell me what your age is? And one girl was 13, so okay. If you're 13, yeah, you probably don't need a toner. I'm sure you absolutely don't need the Obagi Nu-Derm system. But for those of us who are adults, we do need it. And we will continue to use our toner.
