I'm so excited today because I'm going to talk to you today about the Obagi Nu Derm and which items should you choose, Exfoderm or Exfoderm Forte. I'm going to let you know, coming up. So whether you have, or whether you haven't ever tried the Obagi Nu Derm skincare system, it's an amazing six step system, and there's a normal to dry kit and a normal to oily. Now, a lot of people like to mix and match their products. So that's what I'm here to discuss with you today, because even though you're normal to oily or normal to dry, especially with the Exfoderms to choose, a lot of people like to choose the other item and I'm going to help you make the best decision today.
Now, if you've never tried the Obagi Nu Derm System at all, welcome to transformation because everyone knows anyone who uses the Obagi Nu Derm System, especially for the first six months, your skin will go through an amazing transformation and they'll help get rid of so much hyperpigmentation. It helps with anti-aging, fine lines and wrinkles. You just can't believe what happens when you actually use the full six step system. But if you're just interested in the Exfoderm or the Exfoderm Forte, we're going to discuss each one of those. So this way, when you're buying the kit, you don't have to buy the premade kit at all. You can buy singular pieces that you put together in conjunction to make sure you're choosing the right products for your skin type. So let's start today and talk about the Obagi Nu Derm Exfoderm. This helps exfoliate your skin every single day.
Not only does it exfoliate your skin and helps keep your skin smooth and clear every day, it's an amazing product. So this exfoliator boosts the cell turnover, which helps give you a more youthful appearance. Isn't that what we all want? We all need a more youthful appearance, right? It also gently exfoliates and removes dulling impurities, boosts cell turnover and helps give your skin an amazing glow. It's a very lightweight lotion. It's not heavy at all. And it helps remove dull skin so that you can get healthy, fresh skin underneath so you can rebuild a brighter complexion. It has this amazing rejuvenating formula, which is going to help with dark spots, anti-aging, photoaging, sun damage, and of course melasma, which is dark spots, but it's big chunks of hyperpigmentation. So the consistency of this actually looks like a cream, but it absorbs like a gel, which leaves you with the silky smooth finish.
Let's talk about the ingredients that are in this product and how it actually works, and how will help exfoliate your skin. It contains 3% phytic acid, which helps with the cell turnover and helps exfoliate the skin. It helps prevent dryness and limits your irritation. It's really ideal for dull, dry, and rough skin. It's perfect for that. So the Exfoderm is more for the normal to dry, but again, it totally depends upon your skin and what you want to happen with it. And if you've used this before, this product was recently reformulated, Obagi Medical just reformulated it because it was a much thinner consistency. So Obagi increased the percentage of two different items that go in the product, which makes it much thicker and people are loving it even more. Okay, so how do you use this product? Well you use it once per day.
This is step four and the Obagi Nu Derm System. So after you've done step three, which would be your Clear FX, you use step four normally in the morning, put a thin layer all over your face and you're ready to go. Okay, so now we're going to talk about Exfoderm Forte. This is another amazing exfoliator. It's step four in the Obagi Nu Derm System, and it comes in the normal to oily kit. Again, it helps diminish dark spots, wrinkles, and helps give you a smoother, clearer complexion. And it helps with uneven skin tone as well. So the Exfoderm Forte is a little bit different. It has lactic acid, a 4% lactic acid, and a glycolic acid, a 6% glycolic acid. So with the two acids, it's two alpha hydroxy acids together, which are really going to help if you have oily skin and helps get rid of doling debris from your skin as well and unclog those pores so we can make sure that we minimize any of our acne breakouts.
Another thing it does is it helps diminish the look of a shiny complexion. So if you are normal to oily, then sometimes when you look a little bit too shiny, which looks an oily-ish color instead of a healthy radiant glow, then this is definitely the product that you want if your skin's too oily or depending upon what climate you're in. Let's say you live in Miami and it's so humid and you're constantly feeling like you're oily. This is a product that will help get rid of that oily sheen look. I personally love a little bit of a glow to my face. I've had some people say to me on Instagram, when they're trying to roast me that my face looked way too shiny or greasy or something, and I'm not greasy at all.
I'm actually 48 years old, so most people don't have a lot of oil left when they're 48 years old. We're starting to go down to the dryness route. So my skin is a little bit more dry. I like to look hydrated though. I don't like to look like I'm dry or I'm drying out. That's the last thing I want. So it actually is flattering to me that they said, "Oh, you look so greasy and so oily." I was like, "Yay, that means my moisturizers and all my products are working well," because I live in Las Vegas and in the middle of the desert, almost everyone looks dry. If you are constantly hydrating yourself with water all day, and you're not using a good moisturizer and using all the products that I use and that you should be using, then of course, you're going to look dry, but this product helps so much if you feel you're looking too oily.

Now, some people do not use the full Obagi Nu Derm System. They pick and choose different products. For example, you could be using a product from Alastin, you could be using a product from Inance Skincare, you could be using a SkinCeuticals product, and then you like to add in certain products that go with your skincare regimen.
