Do you wonder which retinol you should choose since there's so many different brands out there in so many different percentages, and you don't know what to choose to help fight anti-aging and wrinkles? Well, I'm going to give you all the answers coming up. But before we get started, please make sure you like and subscribe to my channel so we can always stay connected, and you'll know when all my new videos come out, all the new skincare promos that are going on, and you can make sure you get your coupon code. So if you're new to my channel and you do not know who I am, I've worked with some of the biggest celebrities in the world. I've been a celebrity mentor and celebrity expert for over 20 years. I've helped make them over, change their image and make them look better, and I can help you as well. And I can help get you the best skin of your life. So let's get started.
So have you used a retinol before? That's the first question. If you've never used a retinol before, you want to start with one of the lowest percentages. One of my favorites that is Alastin, they have a 0.25 retinol. Some people just want to go hardcore and already get that 1% retinol. No, if you've never used it before, you want to start out slowly, because retinol is a vitamin A compound and it can irritate your skin. So we don't want to do that. You want to start out slowly and then start to ease into the higher percentages. So I'll give you an example. I have eczema. I don't really have it now, which is great. It's getting close to being gone. I'll do a video about that to tell you how I got rid of it, but I get it a lot on my chin. And then from wearing masks, I had a little bit of a rash. It was a mess. We all have been having totally terrible skin issues since we've been wearing masks all the time.
So I hadn't used retinol for almost a year. I know you probably can't believe that. You're like, "Tanya, you have to use retinol." Just like I'm telling you. Yes, I know that, but I had eczema really bad. So I was trying to do everything I could to get rid of it, and I didn't want to irritate it any further. So after everything that I did to get rid of it, which was not anything prescription. I didn't go to a physician. I did everything natural. And I'm actually, I'm not going to say curing it, but it's so much better. So anyways, I didn't use a retinol for so long. So I just started again and I started using the Alastin skincare 0.25%. And wow, I just started about a week ago and it's really changing a lot without any irritation. The whole key to retinol is knowing which percentage you should use, how to use it and not overusing.
So I started on this retinol again a week ago. Last night I could feel, because you can feel it in your skin. If you've used a retinol and it's a good one, you can really start to feel it working. So, yes, when you're using a good retinol, you can absolutely feel it working. So last night, I felt like I'm going to take a break. I'm not going to use the retinol. This way it doesn't work too hard on my skin where I get any sort of irritation. Then I woke up this morning, skin's feeling great. And I'm going to use it again tonight. So you have to learn your skin. You have to figure out what's working the best with your skin and learn, and start to know your skin. Don't just do it every single night and do it so hardcore because you want it super fast. This is not a race. This is a journey when it comes to your skin. So don't forget that.
Now, after my skin gets used to this again, then I can go up to the 0.05% with Alastin. And I'm going to do that as well. Now with Obagi, if you... the Obagi retinol is a little bit more intense, I feel than the Alastin. If you've never used one, I would start with this. Most people who've had the Obagi Nu Derm system had used the retinol. If you haven't incorporated the retinol, you definitely should, because you can mix it with the Blend FX at night. And it makes a huge difference in your skin and in how the regimen works. So I like to say the Obagi retinol is not for the weak. So this is really intense. It's better to me than any tretinoins or retin-As, because those can thin the skin. If you've used them too long, lots of different things can happen to your skin. I love these. These are over the counter. You don't need a prescription. And to me, they're just as intense.
So if you hadn't used the Obagi retinol before and your skin is pretty tolerable and you figure you've had other retinols and you could start with the 0.5%. And if you are one of the adventurous ones who wants to make sure that their skin looks the best, you've used retinol before and... And so if you're one of the adventurous ones and you've used retinol before, then you can definitely use a 1.0%, but only if you've used it before. And sometimes you can only start out with once or twice a week and then you can work up to every other day and then every day, but just don't go in so hardcore where you hurt your skin.
So I hope I answered all of your questions when it comes to retinol. If you have any further questions, go ahead and message me below and I'll be happy to help you. And then also, I'm going to give you a coupon code. You can use the coupon code at YouTube at checkout for huge savings.
